About Jimena Montserrat
What’s my story?
Hi! I’m Jimena Montserrat, a passionate voice teacher and professional singer dedicated to helping students discover and develop their unique sound. My teaching philosophy is centered on fostering healthy vocal technique while encouraging artistic expression. Whether you’re a beginner finding your voice or an experienced singer refining your craft, I tailor every lesson to meet your individual needs. I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can learn to sing with confidence, freedom, and joy—no matter their background or experience level.
I have been teaching voice for over nine years, working with students of all ages and skill levels. My teaching experience includes serving as a voice and piano instructor at Vivaldi Music Academy, being part of the Houston Voice Studio faculty, and teaching after-school voice programs at Annunciation Orthodox School. As a Young Artist with DACAMERA of Houston, I have also worked extensively in community outreach, bringing music education to diverse settings across the city. Additionally, I offer lessons in both English and Spanish, ensuring an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Beyond teaching, I am an active performer and arts professional. I specialize in opera and have performed roles such as Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Mrs. Fiorentino in Street Scene. I have appeared as a soloist with ensembles like La Galatea Baroque Orchestra and the Texas Medical Center Orchestra. I currently serve as Soprano 1 staff singer at Chapelwood United Methodist Church’s Chancel Choir and have previously worked as lead soprano at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Gethsemane Campus. Additionally, I have gained experience in the arts industry through roles in artistic administration at The Glimmerglass Festival and Stratagem Artists.
My academic background includes a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Rice University, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Escuela Superior de Música, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Studies from UNAM. My formal training, combined with years of performance and teaching experience, allows me to provide well-rounded, high-quality instruction to singers of all levels. I’m excited to help you on your musical journey and can’t wait to make music together!
